Pen Dive—a short fiction series focused on a chapstick queer chick navigating love and relationships in the Midwest—was written as a response to what I feel queer television is missing.
Writing a fiction series was something I could materialize much more quickly than a huge film production. I wanted a tv show with more butch and trans masculine characters. I don't think there are enough stories that highlight butch desire, and I wanted to add one to the small amount. There are currently three butch and trans masculine characters in Pen Dive. Most of the time we're lucky if one makes it on a cast list.
